Description
The Whittet-Higgins BEARHUG is a left-handed, prevailing-torque self-locking bearing locknut that secures and preloads bearings, sleeves, and other components on a threaded shaft. Its left-hand thread keeps clockwise-rotating assemblies from backing off, while an integral heat-stabilized polymer locking ring develops prevailing torque to resist loosening from vibration, shock, and torque without a separate lockwasher or shaft keyway.
Built with a carbon steel locknut body, it offers infinite adjustment and preloading capability and installs faster than a traditional locknut-and-lockwasher combination, while being balanced for higher-speed, high-precision assemblies. The BEARHUG meets and exceeds ANSI/ABMA 8.2-1999, is rated to a 160 deg F maximum operating temperature, and is manufactured in the USA and RoHS compliant.
