Description
The Whittet-Higgins BMT-12 is a BEARHUG heat-resistant, prevailing-torque self-locking bearing locknut from the metric BMT series. Its all-metal construction pairs a hardened alloy locknut body with a spring steel locking ring, so it threads onto a shaft or spindle and holds position through prevailing torque rather than a separate lockwasher or a bent keyway tab.
The self-locking action resists loosening from vibration, shock, and torque while still allowing infinite axial adjustment and preloading, and it secures without damaging the shaft threads. Built for high-temperature, high-precision, and balanced assembly applications, it carries a 300 degrees F maximum operating temperature and meets and exceeds the specifications of ISO 2982-2:2013(E).
