Installation instructions for Clampnut |
This series of CLAMP NUTS has threads specified as COARSE under the Unified system of threads designed unifying the original American National design and the United Kingdom Whitworth design for inch dimensioned threads. This unified system brought about general interchangeability of threads achieved through the standardization of thread form, diameter-pitch combinations and limits of size. Under the Unified system, however, the pitch diameter tolerance of the internal thread is uniformly 30% greater than that of the external thread. Thus the clamping does not align as squarely to the axis of the drive mechanism as does the bearing series.
There are, however, advantages of this coarse series: easier and faster assembly with less chance of cross threading, burrs and nicks from handling less liable to affect assembly, less likely to seize in temperature applications and joints where corrosion may form, and less prone to strip when threaded into lower strength materials.
This model is made of low carbon steel with a black oxide finish and blackened alloy steel socket head cap screws.
As with all precision retaining devices, care must be taken during assembly to assure premium performance. Please open and review our installation instructions for proper technique and best results.
