Description
The Whittet-Higgins TANGENTLOK TLM series is a metric, mechanically self-locking shaft locknut with a base threaded nut in carbon steel and hardened alloy fasteners. Three hex socket-head cap screws are seated tangentially (X-axis) around the outside diameter; torquing them in a bolt-circle pattern deforms the relieved inner section of the nut to deliver uniform 360-degree thread clamping to the center of the shaft.
This self-locking action prevents assemblies from loosening due to vibration, shock and torque without damaging the shaft threads or requiring a cut keyway, while providing infinite adjustment and preloading. The balanced design suits high-speed assemblies, installs faster than a traditional locknut and lockwasher, and the series meets and exceeds ISO 2982-2:2013(E) with a maximum operating temperature of 300 degrees F. Manufactured in the USA and RoHS compliant.
