The brand
NSK built Japan's first bearing company.
NSK Ltd. was founded in Tokyo on 8 November 1916 as Japan's first bearing manufacturer and produced its first bearings that year. Its bearings now turn in electric motors, pumps, gearboxes, machine tool spindles, rolling mills and vehicles, alongside the ball screws and linear guides that position machine tools.
-
Since 1916
Japan's first bearing maker
NSK mass-produced bearings in its founding year, a first in Japan, and in 1918 built Japan's first large thrust bearings, for crane slewing rims.
-
EP and Z steel
Cleaner steel, longer life
NSK's ultra-clean bearing steels cut down the oxide inclusions where fatigue cracks start, which extends rolling contact life.
-
NSKHPS
More capacity in the same envelope
The High Performance Standard series raises load ratings and rating life over earlier NSK designs without changing boundary dimensions, so it fits existing housings.
-
ROBUST
Super precision for spindles
ROBUST is NSK's high-speed super-precision series for machine tool spindles, built for low heat generation and high rigidity.

FAQ
Questions buyers ask about NSK bearings.
Short answers to what our sales team hears most. For a specific application, ask a bearing specialist.
What are NSK bearings?
NSK bearings are rolling bearings made by NSK Ltd., founded in Tokyo on 8 November 1916 as Japan's first bearing manufacturer. The range covers deep groove, angular contact and self-aligning ball bearings, cylindrical, tapered and spherical roller bearings, thrust bearings, super-precision spindle bearings and mounted units, alongside NSK ball screws and linear guides.
How do I read an NSK part number such as 6205DDUC3?
Read it left to right. 6 is a deep groove ball bearing, 2 is the light diameter series and 05 is the bore code, which from 04 upward is multiplied by 5, so 25 mm; bore codes 00 to 03 mean 10, 12, 15 and 17 mm. DDU is contact rubber seals on both sides and C3 is radial internal clearance greater than normal. Type any number into the finder to see it broken down; the full nomenclature is in NSK's Bearing and Linear Replacement Guide in the catalog library.
What is the difference between NSK ZZ, DDU and VV?
ZZ has steel shields on both sides. They do not touch the inner ring, so friction is lowest, but they only keep out larger debris. DDU has contact rubber seals, the best protection against dust and water, with a little more friction and a lower speed limit. VV has non-contact rubber seals, which protect better than shields while keeping friction low.
All three share the same dimensions, so a 6205ZZ, 6205DDU and 6205VV swap directly.
What does C3 mean, and when do I need it?
C3 means the bearing has more radial internal clearance than normal. The extra room keeps it from preloading itself when the inner ring runs hotter than the outer ring or sits on a tight shaft fit, which is common in electric motors, pumps and fans.
Replace a C3 bearing with a C3 bearing. No clearance code means normal clearance (CN).
Do NSK bearings interchange with SKF, FAG, NTN or Timken?
For standard metric sizes, yes. The basic number (6205, 22215, NU210) is an ISO size, so the bore, outside diameter and width are the same from any maker. The suffixes differ: SKF 2RS1 or 2RSH, FAG 2RSR and NTN LLU are NSK DDU; SKF 2Z and FAG 2ZR are NSK ZZ; SKF W33 is NSK E4. Check the cage, clearance and precision class too.
Type another brand’s number into the finder and it is translated to NSK; for other brands entirely, use the Apollo Bearing Index.
How do I find an NSK bearing when the number has worn off?
Clean the bearing and measure the bore (d), outside diameter (D) and width (B) with calipers, then enter them in the Size tab of the finder. Note whether it has steel shields, rubber seals or neither.
If you cannot measure it, send us photos and whatever dimensions you have and a specialist will identify it.
How do I know an NSK bearing is genuine?
Buy from a distributor you trust and check the box. NSK’s free NSK Verify app scans the 2D code on NSK precision bearing boxes marked with an N, and the WBA Check app from the World Bearing Association covers other member brands. Apollo sells genuine NSK bearings only, never copies or unbranded substitutes.
Where are NSK bearings made?
NSK makes bearings in Japan and at plants around the world, including Franklin and Liberty, Indiana in the U.S. The country of origin is marked on the bearing or its packaging.
How fast does Apollo ship, and do you quote quantity pricing?
In-stock NSK bearings ship from Oxford, Michigan, and orders over $100 ship free. The finder shows live stock on every result. For larger quantities, B2B pricing or tax-exempt orders, request a quote.
How do I choose the right NSK bearing, and who can help?
Start with the number on the old bearing, or its bore, outside diameter and width. If the machine has changed or the old bearing failed early, ask a bearing specialist: send the part number, the machine and what failed, and we will recommend the NSK part with the right seal and clearance options.

Have the part number? Apollo can match it.
Send the number stamped on the bearing, a photo, or its bore, outside diameter and width, and a specialist confirms the NSK part and the seal and clearance options.
