Description
The Whittet-Higgins BH-14 BEARHUG is a self-locking bearing locknut that threads onto a bearing-mount shaft to axially position, preload, and retain bearings and other components against a shoulder. It is prevailing-torque self-locking through an integral heat-stabilized polymer locking ring, which resists loosening from vibration, shock, and torque while eliminating the separate lockwasher and the need to cut or repair a shaft keyway.
Because it grips on the threads without a tang, the BEARHUG does not damage shaft threads and allows infinite adjustment and preloading. It is balanced for higher-speed, high-precision assemblies and meets and exceeds the specifications of ANSI/ABMA 8.2-1999.
