Description
The Whittet-Higgins BHT-06 is a BEARHUG heat-resistant bearing locknut: an all-metal, self-contained retaining device that threads onto a shaft to position, preload, and secure bearings, sleeves, and similar components against a shoulder. Its hardened alloy body carries high axial loads, while an integral spring-steel locking ring delivers prevailing-torque self-locking that holds the assembly tight against vibration, shock, and applied torque.
Because the locking action is built in, the BHT-06 installs faster than a traditional locknut-and-lockwasher pair, needs no cut or repaired shaft keyway, and does not damage the shaft threads when tightened, while still allowing infinite adjustment and preloading. Rated for continuous service up to 300°F, it meets and exceeds ANSI/ABMA 8.2-1999 and is manufactured in the USA to be RoHS compliant.
