Description
The Whittet-Higgins BL-05 is a BEARLOK mechanical self-locking bearing retaining nut that threads onto a shaft or spindle to position and secure bearings, sleeves, and other components against an axial shoulder. Tightening its socket-head cap screws draws a hardened alloy compression ring into uniform 360-degree clamping contact with the shaft threads, locking the nut without damaging the threads and allowing infinite adjustment and preloading with longitudinal (Z-axis) access to the assembly.
Its balanced design suits high-speed and high-precision assemblies, while the self-locking action resists loosening from vibration, shock, and torque and eliminates the need for a separate locknut, lockwasher, or shaft keyway. The BL-05 pairs a carbon steel base threaded nut with a hardened alloy compression ring and fasteners, is manganese phosphate coated for corrosion resistance, and meets and exceeds the specifications of ANSI/ABMA 8.2-1999.
