Description
The Whittet-Higgins BM-36 Bearhug is a metric, prevailing-torque self-locking bearing locknut used to secure and preload bearings, sleeves, and other components on a threaded shaft. An integral heat-stabilized polymer locking ring grips the shaft threads to resist loosening from vibration, shock, and torque, eliminating the separate lockwasher required by a traditional locknut-and-lockwasher assembly.
Machined from carbon steel and balanced for higher-speed service, it provides infinite adjustment and preloading without cutting or repairing a shaft keyway and without damaging the shaft threads. The BM-36 meets and exceeds the specifications of ISO 2982-2:2013(E).
