Description

The Whittet-Higgins BML-20 is a BEARHUG prevailing-torque self-locking bearing nut with a left-hand thread, used to position, retain, and preload bearings, sleeves, and other components against a shoulder on a shaft. A heat-stabilized polymer locking ring grips the mating thread to develop prevailing torque, holding the nut secure against vibration, shock, and torque without a separate lockwasher or shaft keyway.

The left-hand thread is specifically intended for clockwise-rotating assemblies, preventing them from backing off, while the balanced body suits higher-speed and high-precision work. It installs faster than a traditional locknut-and-lockwasher combination and offers infinite adjustment and preloading. Manufactured in the USA from a carbon steel locknut with a heat-stabilized polymer locking ring, it meets and exceeds ISO 2982-2:2013(E) and is RoHS compliant.
