Description
The Whittet-Higgins CNF07-20A is a one-piece, fine-thread (UNF) clampnut that mechanically self-locks to position and preload bearings, sleeves and other components on a threaded shaft. It locks by tightening a tangential (X-axis) socket-head cap screw, which clamps the base nut onto the shaft thread to resist loosening from vibration, shock and torque while still allowing infinite adjustment and preloading.
Because it secures without damaging the shaft threads and needs no keyway, the CNF07-20A eliminates the traditional locknut-and-lockwasher pairing and installs faster. The standard CNF nut pairs a carbon steel base nut with a hardened alloy clamp screw and a black-oxide-with-wax finish, is rated to 300°F, and offers greater axial strength and finer adjustment than the coarse-thread CNC series. Stainless steel and aluminum alloy versions are also available.
