The Whittet-Higgins KML-22 is a left-handed metric bearing locknut manufactured to meet and exceed ISO 2982-2:2013(E). Its left-hand thread prevents clockwise-rotating assemblies from loosening under vibration, shock, and torque, while delivering accurate angular positioning across numerous locking positions.
Machined from carbon steel and matched with MB series lockwashers, the KML-22 secures, locks, and retains bearings and power transmission assemblies on both soft and hardened shafts. No special tools are required for installation, and it is rated for operation up to 300 degrees F. Part of the most cost-efficient metric bearing locknut line available, manufactured in the USA and RoHS compliant.

About the brand
About Whittet-Higgins
Bearing locknuts, lockwashers and retaining devices from Rhode Island since 1914.
Henry Whittet and John Higgins founded the Whittet-Higgins Manufacturing Company in 1914 in the basement of a mill on Congress Avenue in Providence, Rhode Island, making super-precision bearing retaining components and machined parts for local machine builders such as Brown & Sharpe.
In 1967 the company was sold to a young mechanical engineer, and in 1969 it moved to 33 Higginson Avenue in Central Falls, Rhode Island, where it still makes its products. Its first line of 66 locknuts and lockwashers has grown to more than 4,300 standard parts, made on robotic CNC systems.
Besides the standard N/AN and KM locknuts with W and MB lockwashers, Whittet-Higgins makes its own self-locking designs: Bearhug prevailing-torque locknuts, Bearlok, Shoelok and Tangentlok clamping locknuts, clampnuts and splitnuts, plus adapter sets, clamp collars and installation tools. The company is family owned and operated.
