Description
The Whittet-Higgins NE-16 is a carbon steel bearing locknut threaded with eleven threads per inch on the original SAE thread series, engineered to position, secure, and retain bearings and power-transmission components on a shaft. It is used together with a matching W series lockwasher, whose tabs bend into the shaft keyway and the locknut notches to provide positive mechanical locking against loosening from vibration, shock, and torque.
With numerous locking positions, the NE-16 delivers accurate angular positioning and installs on both soft and hardened shafts without special tools. As the most cost-efficient inch bearing locknut line available, it is ideal for the repair and maintenance of older and historic equipment that uses the legacy 11 TPI SAE thread form.
