Description
The Whittet-Higgins PL series is a left-hand thread precision bearing locknut machined from carbon steel for securing, locking, and retaining bearings and power transmission components on a threaded shaft or sleeve. The left-hand thread keeps clockwise-rotating assemblies from backing off, while the locknut provides double the locking positions of a standard NL locknut for finer, more accurate adjustment. It is used together with the matching PW series keyed lockwasher, whose tab engages a notch in the nut to positively prevent loosening from vibration, shock, and torque. The PL locknut meets and exceeds the ANSI/ABMA 8.2-1999 specification and installs without special tools on both soft and hardened shafts.
