Whittet-Higgins BMS-21 Bearhug retaining nut stainless
The Whittet-Higgins BMS-21 is a stainless steel BEARHUG prevailing-torque self-locking bearing locknut from the metric BMS series. It threads directly onto a shaft and locks through a heat-stabilized polymer locking ring that generates prevailing torque, keeping the assembly secure against vibration, shock, and torque without damaging the shaft threads.
The integral locking ring eliminates the traditional locknut-and-lockwasher pairing as well as the need to cut or repair a shaft keyway, while still allowing infinite adjustment and preload. Balanced for higher-speed service and built from corrosion-resistant stainless steel, it meets and exceeds ISO 2982-2:2013(E), is rated to a maximum operating temperature of 160 deg F, and is manufactured in the USA and RoHS compliant.

About the brand
About Whittet-Higgins
Bearing locknuts, lockwashers and retaining devices from Rhode Island since 1914.
Henry Whittet and John Higgins founded the Whittet-Higgins Manufacturing Company in 1914 in the basement of a mill on Congress Avenue in Providence, Rhode Island, making super-precision bearing retaining components and machined parts for local machine builders such as Brown & Sharpe.
In 1967 the company was sold to a young mechanical engineer, and in 1969 it moved to 33 Higginson Avenue in Central Falls, Rhode Island, where it still makes its products. Its first line of 66 locknuts and lockwashers has grown to more than 4,300 standard parts, made on robotic CNC systems.
Besides the standard N/AN and KM locknuts with W and MB lockwashers, Whittet-Higgins makes its own self-locking designs: Bearhug prevailing-torque locknuts, Bearlok, Shoelok and Tangentlok clamping locknuts, clampnuts and splitnuts, plus adapter sets, clamp collars and installation tools. The company is family owned and operated.
