Description
The Whittet-Higgins SNF22-12 is a two-piece, fine-thread splitnut that provides mechanical self-locking retention for threaded shafts and bearing assemblies. The split-nut body is drawn together by a tangential (X-axis) socket-head cap screw, clamping it onto the shaft threads to lock and preload the assembly without a separate lockwasher or keyway. It can be installed onto the shaft without removing existing power-transmission components and will not damage the shaft threads when secured.
The fine-thread form delivers greater axial holding strength and finer assembly adjustment than the coarse-thread SNC series, with infinite adjustment and preloading capacity. The base threaded nut is carbon steel with a black-oxide and wax finish for corrosion protection (a stainless steel version is also offered), and it is rated for a maximum operating temperature of 300 degrees F. Manufactured in the USA and RoHS compliant.
