Deep Groove Ball Bearing, open design with increased clearance
Nachi's 6001 C3 is a small single-row deep groove ball bearing measuring 12 mm bore by 28 mm outside diameter by 8 mm wide. It carries C3 internal clearance, which is greater than standard and leaves room for the shaft to grow when the inner ring runs hotter than the housing or when an interference fit takes up part of the clearance on assembly. Both sides are open for external lubrication, the balls run in a sheet steel cage, and the bearing is rated from -20 to +150 degrees C. Electric motors, fans, pumps and gearboxes that see a sustained temperature rise are the usual home for a C3 bearing.
