Description
The Whittet-Higgins BEARHUG (BHI series) is a self-contained, prevailing-torque self-locking bearing locknut that threads onto a shaft to position, retain, and preload bearings and other shaft-mounted components. It locks through an integral heat-stabilized polymer locking ring, which generates prevailing torque to hold the nut against loosening from vibration, shock, and torque without damaging the shaft threads.
Cut with 16 threads per inch for finer assembly adjustment and infinite preload capability, the BEARHUG installs faster than a traditional locknut-and-lockwasher pair and eliminates any need to cut or repair a shaft keyway. The carbon steel body is balanced for higher-speed operation and meets and exceeds the requirements of ANSI/ABMA 8.2-1999.
